20-point vacation-rental turnover readiness checklist

A clean-looking room is not the same as a verified handoff. Use this checklist to combine completed work, required proof, restock levels and documented exceptions into one guest-ready decision.

1. Confirm access and timing

Make the operating window explicit before the cleaner starts.

2. Reset every guest-facing area

Use a defined standard rather than “looks good” as the completion rule.

3. Capture required proof

Use consistent angles so the handoff can be reviewed quickly.

4. Resolve restock and exceptions

A turnover is not complete while shortages or issues remain ownerless.

Practical questions

How to use the checklist

Should every completed task require a photo?

No. Require proof only where visual confirmation changes the readiness decision. A small, consistent proof set is easier to review than dozens of low-value photos.

What is a par level?

A par level is the minimum quantity that should remain ready for the next stay. Record a number—such as 12 coffee pods—not a vague instruction such as “restock if low.”

What does READY WITH EXCEPTION mean?

The property can receive the next guest, but a documented issue remains. The exception should state what happened, who owns it and when it will be resolved.
